Biography:
Maria Govan’s first narrative feature “Rain,” premiered at TIFF in 2008 and was licensed by Showtime Networks. Her second feature, “Play the Devil,” shot in Trinidad in 2015, was selected for the Caribbean spotlight at Ventana Sur Film Market in Buenos Aires, Primera Mirada at IFFP in Panama and premiered at the LAFF in 2016.
In February, 2018, Ava Duvernay hired Govan to direct the episode “No Haven In My Shadow” from the scripted series Queen Sugar. That episode aired on the OWN network on June 20th, 2018.
Now represented by Circle of Confusion, she is developing a number of projects of her own.
