Katia Café-Fébrissy is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker and theatre artist, born in Paris and based in Toronto, who has lived in five countries and speaks four languages. She has seven released short films to her credit and a debut feature-length auteur documentary, INDIVISUM: Legacies Adrift, produced with the support of Telefilm Canada’s Talent to Watch program. The film will have its world premiere at Hot Docs in April 2026.
Katia is the founder of KaFé Productions inc., a bilingual boutique production company based in Toronto that brings to the screen stories linking the intimate to the political, in a bold and singular way. Her debut short narrative STILL WATERS (2023), adapted from a play of the same name, won the Best Cinematography award at CINEFAM 2024, powered by the Caribbean Tales International Film Festival.
Passionate about deconstructing complex concepts into accessible narratives, she draws on her lived experience as an Afro-francophone woman of Caribbean origin to bring an intersectional perspective to the stories she tells. Her visual signature blends cinematic imagery with theatrical staging. Her films and plays challenge dominant discourses by foregrounding Afro-diasporic communities and other marginalized voices, long overlooked and excluded from the screen.
